“It’s normal for the body to feel exhausted once it starts to feel safe. If the body has been in a state of hypervigilance for days, months, years, decades, that means the body has been running on super high levels of cortisol and adrenaline which it’s not meant to do for that amount of time. It takes time for the body to recover and recuperate and get used to this new feeling of safety.“
I can personally attest to this experience of exhaustion, long-term recovery, and recuperation, as part of one’s ability to heal and ultimately do so much more than we were originally capable.
It is honestly totally f*cking fascinating to me.
Now that I am through a full decade of my own deeper more intentional healing journey (not that it ever ends but we DO grow and build skills), I now see the depth of power and energy I actually have access to. Energy and personal power I had no concept of or even awareness was possible years ago.
The vast amount of patience and grit that is required to see this part of the process through over time is no joke.
BUT… if we see this part of the process AS the wildly badass part that it is, and how radically connected it is to tapping into that next-level energy, personal power and expanded potential… it often helps even just a little bit to shorten the tough time… to sometimes even make parts of it a little less painful.
The most badass people I know have gone through, and are committed to — ongoing — this part of the process.
We do not access the depth of our own personal power and potential without also reckoning with our patterns, darkness, fear and pain.
That said… if we DO… whoa Nelly, I can’t wait to see what happens for you too. ❤️🔥☀️
