Drove through much of it, made a few quick stops for sweet pics, checked a few things off the ‘ol Bucket List and kept on truckin’…………..
Burgundy region! Vines. Bam.
Doors. I mean, this one is totally badass. That COLOR! :))
Beaune for wine-tasting and a super interesting and inspiring tour of the Joseph Drouhin winery, hearing history of the place and Joseph’s story. Not only was he a hard-working family man, the story also ties back in to WWII, and how he worked with the French resistance to help many, also ultimately escaping the Gestapo himself, living and running the winery from hiding until the war was over.
This is the door he escaped through after being warned by a young German soldier who’s life he saved in WWI. Such a moving story, I’m not doing it justice at all. They then called this the Liberty door.
Then some delicious wine! 🙂
After wine tasting, what better than more wine and escargot! #totallyFrench I’m surprised at how much I like the escargot.. they seem to put them in pesto a lot, so maybe that’s the reason. I love pesto too.
More driving through the region…
To Lyon for Bouchon! I guess it’s some famous meal and this is literally the only town in which you can have legit, authentic bouchon. So of course I was in even though I’d never heard of it before til this day. Word. #goinwiththeflow #opentonewexperiences
Aaaaaaaand, not gonna lie, it was delicious. Interesting for sure, but yeah, next time you’re in Lyon, Cafe Federations. I recommend.
Down a street in Lyon. A pretty big city here.
Giant old beautiful building. Check. #everywhere
Continuing to drive south, periodically stopping to hop out, take a pic, and go WHOA, look at this ridiculous countryside. #beautiful #beautifuloverload #goodproblem
And cap it off with a sunset like this, in a spot like this. #DAMN #nofilter #life
Sure, I joke about stopping, hopping out, snapping the obligatory tourist pic, but really… I encourage us all to continue to do that… to stop sometimes… to stop, to look around, and to appreciate the moment whatever it may be.
Whether it’s a beautiful sunset over a babbling French brook, or whether it’s just you looking up from your computer to look out the window for a minute or two to connect to the bigger world or your butt on the bench. Or that fish dumpling at the bouchon place, DAMN, that was good.
It’s all all good. All the time, always. Each moment. Every moment.
Even the moments that are hard, emotional, challenging, painful. Every moment is part of your bigger story and greatest success.
So stop sometimes and take it in, whatever it is. Then keep going.
Because your evolving story is what fills your soul and makes life amazing.. your unique collection of experiences and insights. Seek what’s right for you and your life… it’s all one big huge gift.
Deep and meaningful, sure, but that’s what I think. 🙂
